Likud Primaries Coming Up

The race for the leadership of the Kadimah party is in the headlines. It is not yet clear who will win. But what is clear is that the sand in Israel's political hourglass is running out. It is extremely likely that the new Jewish year of 5759 will be an election year in Israel.

Before the general elections, the Likud will hold primaries for its Knesset list. Moshe Feiglin will be a candidate for the Likud Knesset list. The inclusion of a faith based Knesset member in the Likud will significantly upgrade the faith based revolution. Another religious or right wing Knesset member from a splinter party is basically insignificant. But a faith based Likud Knesset member opens the door for the entire national camp into the Likud and its integration into the core of the national camp's mother party.

Yes, there is substantial opposition to Moshe Feiglin's candidacy from the minority in the Likud establishment that is anxious to prevent the national camp from setting the tone in the Likud. In other words, the opposition is from those who prefer to see Uzi Dayan, Dan Meridor and other leftist stars compelling the blindfolded national camp to carry out the leftist agenda, with the enthusiastic encouragement of the media, Supreme Court and leftist elites.

A faith based Likud Knesset member has strategic significance in both the short and long term. He will not be just another religious voting robot in the Knesset. Moshe Feiglin in the Knesset will herald the beginning of the first real revolution in Israeli politics.

If you understand the magnitude of this G-d given opportunity, please email Dovid Shirel at shir@jewishisrael.org to volunteer your help.

I thought Moshe was initially opposed to becoming a Knesset member, as he viewed that as "selling out", in the sense that it is a lesser position than the ultimate goal?

Dear Mr Feiglin: I find your movement inspiring. However I have kept wondering whether Likud is really the means for achieving your goals, and whether an internal competition with Mr Netanyahu is really serving your goals or hindering them.

Not being an Israeli, and unaware of Israeli political nuances, I thought your campaign must know better. Now, though, it seems quite obvious that Mr. Netanyahu is ready to swing to the left in order to increase the number of his supporters. The math is obvious: If you bring one supporter, he'll bring two, and not necessarily from the right.

So, Mr Feiglin, although I don't have the right to do this, I appeal to you to please abandon the Likud and run as part of a bigger nationalistic movement, such as the Hatikva party.

I know you don't want to compromise on your very high standards by joining a group that includes secular values, but the situation in Israel is so critical that the patient needs life-saving surgery NOW before we can worry about his lifestyle. Israel is bleeding and in danger of perishing.

I pray that, just for once, all patriotic Israelis will unite as one to dislodge the left from its destructive grip on the country.

I would agree with Tracey W. Mr. Feiglin you cannot save Israel through the Likud but you can as the leader of an inclusive Movement for National Salvation that puts Israel First. Let's get beyond meaningless terms of right versus left and work together to save Medinat Yisrael. Stephen Harper brought the old Reform and Tory factions together in Canada. Moshe Feiglin has an historic opportunity to bring responsible government to Israel and end the corruption that makes the Jewish State at best a replica of the French Fourth Republic and at worst a kosherized Weimar.
